FREEMYTEAM SAFETY GUIDELINES
Effective Date: August 31, 2007
Last Updated: August 31, 2007
Freemyteam is your world. Share your sports passion with existing and new team mates, fans and friends, express your ideas and thoughts, and showcase your creative side with sports related photos and videos.
But, please keep in mind that Freemyteam is a public space with many people you don’t know who have online access to you and to any information you publicly post. There are certain guidelines that you should follow to help you, your Freemyteam Friends and team and club members have a safe and enjoyable experience with Freemyteam.
- Do not share personal information, such as your full first and last name, phone number, street address, email or IM address, city or province, on blogs, notice boards, forums, groups, chats or any type of posts. Once you post this information, it’s out there and available for anyone to see and once information is put online it is very hard to delete it.
- Do not reveal personal information about your friends or other people, except to people you know, or on a secure location.
- It’s great to make new friends on Freemyteam, but do not agree to meet anyone you don’t really know in person without:
- bringing another person with you;
- arranging to meet in a public place; or
- notifying an adult of your plans if you are under the age of 18.
- Think before you post! Don’t upload any embarrassing photos or post any stories that you wouldn’t want your friends, parents or strangers to see.
- Don’t respond to anyone or anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. If you see or receive any harassing, threatening, hostile or inappropriate posts, report it to us immediately using the aReporta link that appears next to the post, or email to reportit@Freemyteam.com.
- If you live at home, talk to your parents, about their expectations and understanding of how you use the Internet and Freemyteam. It can be as helpful to them as it is to you.
Parental Tips
Freemyteam is popular with children and teenagers because it allows them to freely express themselves as well as interact with friends online. We encourage you to talk with your teens about making safe decisions with respect to how they interact with others online.
We have required a parent or guardian to agree to Freemyteam registrations for any person under 13 years of age. We ask that you monitor your child/charge’s activities online and let us know right away if you have any issues or questions about what YOU see on the Freemyteam site.
Here are a few guidelines to help you:
- Talk to your kids to find out what they do online and about the sites they visit. Take the initiative and learn about the sites they frequent most.
- Set reasonable guidelines so your kids know what they can and can’t do online.
- Encourage your kids to come to you if they encounter a problem online. You, or they, can report any problems or inappropriate behavior to Freemyteam at reportit@Freemyteam.com.
- Remind your kids that the Internet is a public place and that they should be careful about posting:
- anything that might embarrass them if seen by adults or others; or
- personal information that they wouldn’t want the world to know such as email or IM addresses, telephone numbers, street addresses, etc.
- While making new friends online can be a good thing, warn your children to be cautious because not everyone online tells the truth.
- Most importantly, ask your kids to tell you if they want to meet a new online friend in person. If you think it’s safe, help them arrange the meeting in a public place and make sure they are accompanied by an adult or friends.
